1. On the upper end of the door leaf with a pencil, outline the places where the rollers will be installed (the main component of the sliding system). Further, with the help of self-tapping screws and a screwdriver, the rollers are mounted on the door leaf.
2. Mark the height at which the guide will be above the doorway. Use the level to adjust the guide. Fix the guide to the wall.

He perfectly proves that the installation of sliding doors with his own hands is not only for strong men, but also for women, and the creation of doors does not depend on age either!

Such a model:

Next to such a door, you can put various outlandish plants of large sizes, hang vintage sconces, stylized in antiquity, from which a dim light will come, and so on ... well, what’s not an interior door of a medieval castle? Great idea in my opinion! But in the Middle Ages people did not know how to make sliding doors and did not know that such an option would save more space, so any duke would have such a door ... no, even the king would envy! With all this, such a door is created quite quickly and can even serve as a door for the guest room, I think that then your guests will have something to remember after visiting your "castle", well, or it can close your own "royal" bedroom.

Since such a door is quite large, you need to carefully plan everything before creating to avoid errors, for example, for this model, the creator first drew a sketch on the computer and only then began to assemble the door. The door leaf is assembled very simply: these are just a few boards fastened together, which then, using paint and varnish, gave the effect of antiquity, it is very impressive. If you suddenly decided to make a sliding interior door with your own hands, then do not postpone this venture for later, because creating such a door will not take too much time, and if you postpone this thought, it will be forgotten very, very soon, it always happens.

Well, if you don’t even forget it, then you just continue to put off your own idea. Therefore, I repeat once again that it is not necessary to pull too long - it is better to implement ideas immediately and then rejoice for a long time.

For example, you might like this model. In some ways, it is even similar to the previous one, in terms of appearance, most likely, this sliding door is a simplified version of the above-described interior doors.

Unlike the previous version, this one has a not so intricate design and its dimensions are slightly smaller, and it also looks even more ancient, this gives the model mystery.

In order to make such an interior sliding door with your own hands, you need 15 not too wide boards, about 120 centimeters long, but for making a door that has standard sizes, you can use lengths of 60, 70, 80 centimeters, measure your doorway and choose the appropriate length .
Do not forget to pre-sand all the boards with emery granular paper, since the edges and corners of the workpieces should not be sharp, and the faces are rough. After you have finished grinding, you can start painting the boards, you can, like in this example, give them the effect of antiquity, in any way. While the paint is drying, you can create a door handle.

The handle of this model is made of a pipe and two corner PVC adapters.

In the meantime, the paint has dried and you can begin to connect the boards to each other with screws, then place a handle on the resulting wooden door leaf, and you just have to fix the canvas on the slider above the doorway.

As you may have noticed, in the two models described above, it is this type of sliding door that is in great demand.Why? I cannot answer this question. Perhaps this is due to the unusual appearance of such sliding doors, perhaps because of the strength (although this is unlikely, after all, the strength depends on the material you use), in general, there are many factors. But since there is a demand for such models, I simply do not have any right to go by their side and not describe another version of the self-made sliding door. In addition, another photo instruction will not hurt you and, in any case, it will not be superfluous for you.

Unlike the two previous versions, in which the effect of antiquity was achieved with paint, this model of a sliding door with its own hands is made of really old boards, but this did not affect its strength in any way, it only increased the effect of the appearance.
Another feature of this version of the door is that its frame is made of metal angles welded together. Thus, metal in this case is a working element connecting the boards, although in all the above models it was used only as fragments of decor.

After the frame is done, the next step, of course, as in all the other options described above, will be the fitting of the wooden canvas to the required dimensions, for this extra ends are sawn off from the boards using a circular saw.
When all the boards will be in place, in the frame, they will need to be fixed, for this, place several crossbars across from the same boards, as shown in the photographs.

Using a metal frame greatly simplifies the task of connecting all the elements of the door cladding to each other!

You just have to paint the door and varnish, for greater effect. And then set it to the slider.

Sliding door made of pallets? YES!

If the materials for creating the models described above are difficult for you. Or do you want to save on creating a sliding interior door ... well, or for any other reason, you can use old wooden pallets! You just need to try to find the number of pallets you need. This material will be much cheaper, because many people are ready to give such old pallets for nothing, just to get rid of them! But with all this, the use of pallets will not reduce the practicality and strength of your interior door. The only difficulty you will encounter in creating such a sliding door is the need for extra time. Indeed, because in order to use boards from pallets, you first need to disassemble them, moreover, carefully disassemble them without spoiling the material. This process is quite painstaking ... don’t be afraid to talk about extra time, I don’t mean a lot of time, it needs a little bit, you need to sort out only 3-4 pallets, you are not building a house, after all. But, such a procedure will help you save a significant amount of money that you would have spent on buying the same interior door in the store, or on new sturdy material if you would have created a sliding door yourself. And the assembly of such a model itself will not greatly complicate you. Therefore, I highly recommend using this method of creating an interior sliding door with your own hands. By the way, for part of the savings you can just buy all the necessary materials to create a movable slide mechanism.

One more from pallets

In the previous fragment of the article, I told you that you can use pallets to create sliding doors, as this is a fairly light and durable material, and also easily accessible. But I did not take much time, in fact, to create such a door myself, and in the photo instruction everything was shown not quite accurately and in stages.So especially for those people who want to understand in more detail the creation of sliding doors from pallets, I write this part of the article (in the appendix to this part you will find step-by-step photographs and assembly diagrams, so I hope that everything will be very clear and quite to you clearly).

The tools you will need to create a similar model:

1. Drills and hammer drill;
2. A circular saw;
3. Wrench;
4. Table saw (if any);
5. Hacksaw.

I forgot to mention that if you want to make the door better, then from the disassembled pallets you still have to choose only those boards that turn out to be not deformed or damaged. Such sorting of material will help you avoid unpleasant situations associated with both assembling the door and using it (for example, under the influence of moisture, a damaged tree can undergo even greater deformation and there will be difficulties opening the door).

Such a model of a sliding door does not look as impressive as, for example, any of the models described above. This is due to the fact that its creator decided to use only the appearance of old boards and do without painting and applying varnish, of course, you can do the same, but I would not advise doing this, especially if there are small children in the house, I will explain why:
If you want to preserve the look of old wood, then, in this case, you, of course, will not grind it. Thus, you will leave all the nicks and roughness on the wood, and, of course, both you and your children can easily get injured by using such a door and fasten a splinter. Covering the door with a thick layer of varnish could prevent such a situation if you did without sanding, but the creator did not do this, therefore, such a door is not safe.

I devoted most of this article (everything described above) to stories about how to create a door leaf for a sliding door, which materials are best to choose, and I also showed you several options for such interior doors so that you can -Never choose for yourself. Installation rolling gear

In order to install a sliding door with your own hands, you need to purchase a set of rollers suitable for your size, and a guide (rails), it is better to take it in length with a margin, well, just in case, and then adjust it to the right size.

Of course, you can make a guide with your own hands, and from any material, but it is very inconvenient and difficult to do this, besides, the quality of the mechanism can then become worse, you want your sliding door to last a long time, and it would be convenient to use? Then it would be better to buy a finished guide.In addition, rollers in any case will have to be bought in the store, and the guide is not very expensive, and plus, if you used the tips described above, you also managed to save money on the door leaf, so feel free to buy the guide!

But in addition to installing the guide (rail) and rollers on the upper end of the door leaf, you will also need to take care of the lower end, because it must fix this leaf. How can this be done?

Method One:

• Take an additional wooden block, the length of which should be equal to the length of the upper guide (rail), and the width should be slightly larger than the width of the door leaf. In the center of this bar, create a groove and install it under the upper guide, fasten it with self-tapping screws, so that you have a lower guide that will not allow the door leaf to “go” to the side.

The second way:

• This method is also done at the expense of the groove, but without using a bar. Since the groove is made directly in the lower end of the door leaf, and in the floor on both sides where the door leaf should be, special latches (flags) are installed.

It seems to me that it is best to use the first method, since with the help of a bar the door leaf is fixed more securely, and thus, you will not be able to spoil the door leaf, the main thing to remember is that in the first and in the second case, the grooves must be of suitable size for so that the latch does not brake the door. The second way is more profitable for those people who do not want to stumble over a fixed bar all the time. So, for example, the creator of the model shown in the photographs used just the second method. He explains this by the convenience of the groove in the door leaf, because through it you can draw a wide television cable.

6. Drill with a set of drills of different types and sizes;

Usually, after you fasten the aluminum rail with screws on the bar, you need to insert the door leaf into it, with the rollers already fixed, but in this case, the collector of this model installed the rollers in the rail (rail) immediately, on the top end of the door leaf installed only mounts for clips. By the way, I told you about two ways of lower fixing the door leaf, in this case the creator of this model, like in the previous example, used the second method, that is, I made a groove in the lower end of the door, thanks to which I installed the door leaf on the latches (flags).

Installation Instructions:

1. Measure the length, width and thickness of the doorway. Then, according to the measured data, create a decorative door false box or just paste wallpaper over the opening.
2. Make sure that there is enough free space on the wall so that the door can fully open.
3. Above the doorway, install a block on which the upper guide will be mounted, respectively, the length of the bar should be equal to the length of the guide.
4. On the bar installed above the door, with the help of screws, fix the upper aluminum guide.
5. Install the rollers on the upper end of the door leaf.
6. Provide the lower fixation of the sliding door, for this either use a wooden block with a groove, or make a groove directly in the door leaf and check the box.
