It is clear that any fence needs reliable support. How to install pillars under the fenceso that it stands securely and for a long time, we will now consider it.
Pillars suitable for this type of fence are selected for each fence, the choice mainly depends on what kind of load will be on them. The installation scheme is basically the same for all types.
First, markup is carried out, with the determination of the places where the posts will be installed. This is done with pegs and taut twine. The distance between them, of course, depends on the planned spans and what material they will be from. The standard is usually 2 to 3 meters.
Pillars, as a rule, go deep into the ground by a third, hence the calculation of the height of the support is necessary. Whatever the form of the support column, in any case, its underground part must be pre-processed. Concrete, as well as metal supports are processed in the lower part with bitumen, and wooden with copper sulphate and are smeared. All pipes that are installed as support pillars must be covered with a lid on top so that moisture does not get inside.
When installing light and temporary fences, poles can simply be driven into the ground using a sledgehammer. For capital fences this method, of course, is not suitable; concreting is necessary here.
Pits for capital supports are made using a drill. In this case, you may need the help of a specialist, since the drilled well should be strictly vertical, and a depth of freezing pass, which is approximately one and a half meters, in depth.
The pillars in the pits are fixed with stakes. Before concreting at the bottom, a pillow is made of fine gravel or sand 10 to 15 centimeters high, which is carefully packed.
For heavy fences made of concrete, brick or some types of corrugated board, the strip foundation is poured, where special recesses are made for the pillars. For example, if the foundation width is 30 centimeters, then the hole for the pillar should be at least forty centimeters around the perimeter, and the cell depth should also be 30 - 40 centimeters greater.
It is not advisable to take a break in the foundation between the gate posts, the savings are not so big, and the consequences can be very bad. Because the greatest load is placed on these poles, and if the gate becomes unusable, you will have to dismantle the entire structure, which will be very difficult to do and will not be cheap.
