Everything can get to work.

 

First, we calculate the contour of the future arch and bend the reinforcement along this contour. This is not an easy thing, but the two can cope. To make a smooth beautiful bend, drive several pegs into the ground and lay the chipboard between them.

 

 

 

Then cut a meter-long pieces from a thin rod and form rings with a pipe bender. You can do it easier, connect the arcs with ordinary crossbars from cut reinforcement, so it will be, by the way, more reliable, but with rings more beautiful. Not an easy choice, but somehow determined. That's all, install the sections of the arch. You do not need to score anything, press together on both sides until it hits the ground half a meter.

It remains to fix the rings. Tie them with wire, like photos at a distance of 20cm. It will not turn out very beautifully, but it doesn’t matter, all the same, nothing will be visible under the climbing plants.
The final touch, coat the reinforcement with a primer so that it does not rust. You can even paint, although not necessarily, just to have the look until nothing has grown.

Wooden arch on gabions

 

Metal arcs look beautiful, such an airy design, but many prefer to use the good old wood. A matter of taste, of course, but there is interesting version of a wooden arch on gabions, such is the original solution. And what, products from mesh and stones are in fashion today, arches are constantly in fashion, so we get a super fashionable design. It’s very convenient, you don’t have to dig anything, make a foundation - you just fasten the arch in gabions and that’s it.

 

So, first you need to make boxes for gabions. You can buy ready-made ones, order a size of 100x50x50 and then modify it a bit. But I think that if you make an arch with your own hands, then you can make a box of mesh yourself. You can see the scheme here.

 

 

In general, take a grid, cut the canvas to size and fix the edges with wire. The most modern and convenient way is to fix the edges with a wire spiral with locking studs.
We need a combined gabionwhich will consist of three parts. Two standard boxes and a smaller one between them (the support will be fixed there). But you can make one big gabion with a notch.

For the arch itself, we need 4 two-meter beams, two 80cm cross beams, slats for grooves and two sheets of galvanized mesh two meters long and half a meter wide.

Now in order:

• With the milling cutter, we make slots for the trellis mesh in the transverse beams
• We fasten the vertical posts to the cross beams
• For the strength of the cross member and the stand, we fix the triangular brackets
• We fix two rails along the supports with a distance of 4 - 5 mm, this gap will be a groove for attaching the mesh
• Set the mesh in the grooves
• We fill the boxes with stones so that the support posts are securely locked.
• We fix the grid sheets on the dome with wire.

Arches are created for climbing plants, no matter what you make of it, so you can not really worry if the design is not perfect. Then you just have to choose plants for the arch.

 

The most simple and practically maintenance-free ivy and grapes. Ivy, this is an evergreen plant, unpretentious and frost-resistant, so it will decorate your arch all year round.
