We are pleased to present you a fairly simple sandbox from an old car tire. You can use tires from cars and trucks. It is clear that the larger the tire, the more spacious the play area for children. In order to make such a sandbox, you do not have to purchase expensive materials and spend a lot of your precious time.

Making sandboxes with step by step photos

All you need: a car tire, a can of oil paint for outdoor use, brushes, acetone, detergent, a large knife, polyethylene, a stapler (furniture), sand and a hard brush.

First you need to clean the tire from dirt with a brush, clean the outside of the tire, when it dries, degrease it with acetone. Further cut the inner rim from one side of the tire (you need to cut it in one piece to make a ring, it will be needed to make the cover. The width of the strip should be about 10 cm so that children can sit comfortably on the rest of the wheel). The next step is painting. It is necessary to paint in two layers, so that the color is more saturated and bright, and the paint is better. The first layer dries a day, the second longer.

Install the sandbox, fill it with sand below the edge by about 5-7 cm. Under the weight of the sand, the tire will become motionless. For greater stability, you can "nail" the tire with metal pegs to the ground. For the cover you will need an old oilcloth or thick polyethylene. Cut a circle approximately 15-20 cm larger than the size of the rubber ring. Using a furniture stapler, pull the oilcloth over the ring, as in the picture.
