DIY hammock DIY hammock

We look and learn how to make a hammock with our own hands:

Materials

calico 220 cm wide, 3 m
synthetic winterizer, 50 cm
nylon rope with a diameter of 4 mm
sling 3 cm wide, 5.2 m
shovel handle
acrylic dye to match the calico

Tools

wood hacksaw
chisel
large sand paper
brush

By the way
For tall people, make a long hammock - using the entire width of the fabric (220 cm). If you choose a fabric of standard width (150 cm), it will need more - 4–4.5 m (depending on how long the hammock you need: 200–225 cm).
1. Cut out two rectangular canvases measuring 150 x 200 cm and grind them face to face on the short sides so that you get a “ring”. Turn the workpiece and iron the seams, ironing the allowances in one direction. Stitch the sling along the long sides of the hammock 5 cm from the edge: on the lower canvas - along the entire edge, on the upper - 35 cm from the seam. Without cutting the sling, make sure that the lower canvas goes to the upper (see diagram).

2 Stitch 4 pieces of slings (70 cm each) to the transition from the lower to the upper canvas (see diagram). This is necessary to secure the hammock. Sew the edges on the crossbar hole. Fold the canvas and chop in several places. Lay on the sling (on the front side) the fixing stitches, connecting the segments of the slings of the upper and lower canvases. Stitch them all the way, leaving a 5 cm hole for the crossbar.

3 Stitch the hammock canvases by stitching along its long sides 30 cm from the edge (see diagram). Cut the padding pad into 2 strips measuring 25 x 125 cm and insert the seal into the "pockets".

4 Bend the edge of the hole 2 cm inward and chip the sheets.

5 Lay the stitch along the edge (along the long sides of the hammock), covering the hole left for the padding polyester.

6 Make 3 reinforcing stitches on each sintepon strip, placing them all the way at the same distance from each other.

screeds

7 Saw in half a wooden stalk. Saw shallow grooves 2 cm from each edge (1 cm apart). Make a chisel for the rope. Process the saw cuts with sandpaper. Paint the wood surface with acrylic paint and leave to dry for 2 hours.

shuttle
8 Stitch the drawstring drawstring by stitching 5 cm from the short edges at the ends of the hammock. Insert them into the holes, evenly picking up the fabric. Tie a rope to the ends, fixing it with knots on sawn grooves.
