How to make a lilac hedge Favorite

Lilac hedge Lilac hedge

Hedgerow is practical from any point of view, and besides it is also beautiful. It can perform a variety of functions, but no one will probably be opposed to showing off on its site hedge for shade. Plants for it can be selected whatever you like, even completely exotic, but in our latitudes it will be most optimal to stay on lilacs.

This plant is found literally everywhere, which means it will take root on your site. Specific professional skills for planting lilacs are not required. But when it blooms, it’s difficult to compare anything else with its aroma. By the way, in May, when the lilac blooms, it is possible to choose varieties according to color and aroma. At another time, this can no longer be done, but each variety has its own.

There are no clear recommendations regarding the lilac planting time, so each owner can decide for himself when it is best to do this: in spring or autumn. It is better to purchase not very young bushes, but about 2 years of age. They take root better because their root system is already quite developed. And they begin to bloom earlier after planting.

You can plant lilacs in separate holes, or you can dig a trench of sufficient depth and width so that the roots fit freely. If the soil is clayey, it is necessary to arrange additional drainage, laying a layer of gravel in centimeters 15 - 20 on the bottom of the trench or hole, deepening it accordingly. The distance between the bushes can vary from 50 centimeters to one and a half meters, depending on the variety and how well it grows.

Immediately after planting, the seedlings should be cut, in which case they will bloom earlier and more abundantly. Bushes are watered once a week, until they grow up, in the future, water enough once a month. When choosing a place for a hedge, you need to consider that the lilac is very fond of light and space, so that the air circulates freely.

Planted in a suitable place, a lilac hedge will trap the dust applied by the wind to the site and, like any plant, release oxygen to the environment. So, the air of your site will always be clean, fresh, and in the spring also fragrant.
