Wells in a country house or a private house are often an urgent need, especially in the absence of a central water supply. They are made of different materials, most often using concrete rings, but this often requires special equipment. But add up do-it-yourself brick well practically everyone can, without attracting additional labor and equipment.
Of course, for deep wells, brickwork is not the most suitable option, they are more built in areas where groundwater has a high level. If the mine is deeper than 4 meters, brick laying is impractical.
For the construction of the well, only full-bodied clay bricks are used. Other types of bricks are not suitable for these purposes, especially silicate, which are very quickly destroyed in a humid environment. Also, the selected brick should be free of chips and cracks, which is very important for the tightness of the structure.
The calculation of the required material is carried out according to the formula 2Pi * R * h. R is the radius of the pit, h is its depth, well, and Pi is known to be 3.14. That is, it is not difficult to calculate that for a three meter well, whose radius is 0.5 meters and using a standard brick, the required number of 580 pieces. Do not forget to discount the fight and the estimated thickness of the solution.
Wells of brick are usually made square (rectangular) or round. The foundation pit should be wider than the planned masonry.
At the beginning, a concrete foundation is made. If the well is round, the walls are laid out with bonded masonry, forming a circle with small surfaces. The brick should lie in such a way that the top row is displaced by 2 - 2.5 centimeters, thus gradually expanding the well. At the square well, one side must remain flat in order to fix metal brackets on it. For reliability, the masonry is reinforced and then plastered, paying special attention to the seams.
In wells, where the depth reaches five meters, masonry is done from below.
At the beginning, marking is made at the bottom and frames are made. The wall thickness should be calculated in one and a half bricks, so that there is no collapse when the ground moves. The main frame, to which the entire load will go, is made of reinforced concrete, and the upper two can be made of wood. The main frame should be with holes where reinforcement will be inserted to strengthen the walls. Additional frames are put on top and fastened with nuts. As the brick is laid, they will accordingly rise.
To make the walls smooth, it is advisable to make a round template for testing.
It is more difficult to do the laying on top, which is used if the well is not deep. In this case, a concrete base is made, and the masonry collected from above is lowered down, removing soil under it.
